Polo for a Purpose Raises $15,000 for Cancer Center

Meadowbrook Polo Club on Long Island, New York, hosted Polo for Life’s Polo for a Purpose on September 14, benefiting pediatric cancer patients and their families through Stony Brook Cancer Center’s Child Life Program, a charity based in Stony Brook, New York.
The first Polo for Life event held in New York raised $15,000.
The day included a polo match between Steel Polo (Glenn Lostritto, Glenn Lostritto II, Juan Redlich, Brandon Phillips) and Meadowbrook Polo (Rishabh Mehta, Geoff Alcock, Nick Manifold, Nic Roldan).
High-scorer Glenn Lostritto II tallied the game-winner for Steel Polo, earning him MVP honors.
Brandon Phillips, founder and president of Polo for Life, said,
“Our first event in New York was a tremendous success, and I couldn’t be happier with the results.”
Funds raised will go to Long Island families facing significant financial challenges that accompany a diagnosis of pediatric cancer.
“Our goal is to ease the burden so families can focus on what really matters — their child’s treatment and recovery,” explained Phillips, a cancer survivor himself.
Deborah Colgan, senior director of medicine advancement for Stony Brook Cancer Center, added,
“We are thrilled to partner with Polo for Life Inc., and we thank them for their very generous donation to our Child Life services program. This program helps reduce the stress that pediatric cancer patients and their families may experience when faced with illness, medical procedures, and unfamiliar surroundings.”
Aside from the action on the field, VIP guests enjoyed tailgating, cocktails, an asado, and a DJ.
