Polo for Life celebrated the 11th anniversary of its annual Polo for a Purpose event on Friday, Feb. 27, raising more than $500,000 to benefit three local organizations dedicated to supporting children battling cancer: Kids Cancer Foundation, Miami Cancer Institute, and Pediatric Oncologist Support Team.

The Match

The evening began on Field One at the National Polo Center with an exciting match between Mayer Ranch (Kenny Mayer, Brandon Phillips, Luis Escobar, Kris Kampsen) and Hotels at Sea (Tareq Salahi, Lerin Zubiaurre, Nic Roldan, Brendon Stenzel).

Former player Tom Blake sang the National Anthem. Afterward, 5-year-old Ava, who is currently battling a rare form of bone cancer, kicked off the match by bowling in the ceremonial first ball. The competition was fierce, with the teams finishing in an exciting 3-3 tie.

The Celebration

Event co-chairs Montana Coady, Rob Gray, Alex Hamer, Benjamin Randall, and PJ Rizvi welcomed guests to the terrace at the 7th Chukker lounge. Following the match, guests were led to the poolside area near the Mallet Grill, which was transformed into a charming Italian village inspired by the theme La Dolce Vita.

  • Culinary Highlights: Charcuterie, fresh pizza baked in a traditional stone oven, gourmet pastas, and a gelato cart.

  • Entertainment: Synchronized swimmers and a performance of Frank Sinatra classics by multi-award-winning singer Richard Shelton.

  • Tribute: Polo for Life founder and pediatric cancer survivor Brandon Phillips delivered a heartfelt tribute to his mother for her advocacy during his own treatment.

The Auction and Impact

Sebastian Clarke launched a live auction featuring luxury items such as ruby earrings from Coady Culha, dinner at The Polo Room in Palm Beach, and a villa stay in Montego Bay.

Since 2014, Polo for a Purpose has raised more than $4.3 million to provide financial assistance, patient programs, and psychosocial support for families impacted by pediatric cancer.
